Foreclosures Drop for First Time in 5 Years

So far this year, the U.S. foreclosure rate has been falling slightly on a month-to-month basis. And in April, RealtyTrac (foreclosure database website) reported a year-over-year decline in the foreclosure rate for the first since the firm began reporting data in 2005.
1 out of every 400 homes in America received a notice of default on their mortgage. Washington State's current foreclosure rate is well below the national average with 1 out of every 572 homes receiving a notice. King County is just slightly higher than the state average with a foreclosure rate of 1 in every 555 homes receiving a foreclosure notice.
Nevada remains the number 1 foreclosure state with one in every 79 properties in the state getting a foreclosure notice, five times the national rate. You can read the full CNBC article on the current foreclosure activity here.
